Lafaek News-Community members of Suco Funar who are part of the cooperative group really appreciated the collaboration between #AibaFuturu and CCA-T to support the activities of the Funar tribe in the process of developing local coffee from Suco Funar. The Chief of the Suco Funar, who is representing the local community, thanked Ai ba Futuru for the assistance with machines for coffee processing through a cooperation with CCA-T. This is very helpful for the community to make their work easier. The income they get comes from coffee, honey and palm wine. People are also starting to plant konjac because they got the information that konjac can be sold in the market.

Martino Mendonsa, a young coffee farmer who is involved in the Funar Group, has been a coffee farmer for 22 years since he received the coffee seedling from the government in 2003. He planted them on his 1ha field. He always pays attention to his coffee to sustain his life. In addition, Antonio Alves confirms that they were excited to join the group, because they could enhance their income by selling the coffee. Before, the price of coffee was only $1/kg. Now they can sell it for $3.50/kg and they can improve their income.

The chief of the group Luis Sarmento confirmed that the group consists of 104 women and men. According to the information from the chief of the group, a total of 642 households come to the place of the group to weigh their coffee, where CCA-T will buy all the coffee that has already been weighed by them. Red coffee costs $3.50 per kilogram, and recently, CCA-T received the coffee weighing 62kg for $1,422.30. In addition, the chief of Suco Funar asked for support on how to produce quality coffee to improve their skills in processing coffee.

The communities of Suco Funar do not consume coffee from another place; they only consume the local coffee grown by themselves. From Funar, we can follow them as a good example of how to consume our local products. Then we can promote our local products. Finally, we can enhance the income in rural areas. Hopefully, this simple information can make us aware of our local products and invite people to promote local products from rural areas to the market.
