Lafaek News- President Ramos-Horta with his delegations arrived today (22/09) in New York to participate in the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Upon his arrival in America, the President held a meeting with Portugal’s Prime Minister, discussing Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN which emphasises a grand opportunity for the Portuguese companies in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, canning and shoes industries among others, including the warehouses in Timor-Leste to supply international market comprising $700 million, in which it is a high purchasing power.

In the afternoon session, the President welcomed Counsellor of the United States Department of State, Derek Chollet, and other senior officials from the State Department. The meeting predominantly focused on global concerns, tragic situations, and the inadmissible situation in Myanmar. Moreover, International communities, including journalists who are distracted with the war in Ukraine and the people of Myanmar who are abandoned.

The President ad Maun Bo’ot Xanana are currently in New York. Today, they met to talk about the global situation, the incapability of multilateral System to attend the challenges and the impacts encountered by fragile states and other nations.

Tomorrow morning (23/09), the President of Republic will be speaking at the UN General Assembly.
